Port Sailing offers both ASA-certification courses and private lessons. For those looking to begin sailing, we recommend taking our ASA 101 course which will provide you with all the skills and knowledge to enter the sailing world. We also offer ASA 103, 104, 105, and 106.

ASA 101
Basic Keelboat Sailing
Available in New Rochelle and on City Island, ASA 101 is by far our most popular adult sailing program. The American Sailing Association designed the certification course with beginners in mind. It is the fundamental course that introduces you to the world of sailing. This three-day course includes 16 hours of instruction and a third day for testing and additional skill development. It also includes 8 hours of free practice sailing! After completing the course, students can rent from our fleet of Sonar 23's.

Private Lessons
Join us for our private 3-hour sailing lessons, available the morning or afternoon! Whether you're looking to enhance your sailing skills or simply enjoy a day on the water, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Our lessons take place on a comfortable 23-foot keel sailboat, ensuring a fun and engaging experience. Don't miss out on this chance to set sail and create unforgettable memories!

Refresher Sail
Join us for a half-day group lesson on the water and refresh your sailing skills! It's been a while since you've sailed with us, and our experienced instructor is here to help you get back into the groove. ASA 101
Challenge
For students with prior sailing experience that would like the 101 certification without completing the 3-day course. Booked as an add-on to a private lesson. Additional fee includes written test + textbook. Please contact for booking information.

ASA 103
Basic Coastal Cruising
Available in New Rochelle, this is the next course after 101. You will learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered (inboard or outboard engine) 30ft keelboat. You will learn to sail in moderate winds (up to 20 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather interpretation, safety, and seamanship.
This is a two day course that include docking and sailing. Bring your lunch. The boat departs at 10 am returning back at 4 pm. The course is offered on weekends. .
